Speaking of events, our 2nd Annual Food & Farmers Expo, Sept. 18, was a big hit. Despite a rainy day, nearly 1000 people attended the show and enjoyed the many samples, talks and even a fashion show provided by Operation Food Search & RUNG clothing store. Thanks to all who attended, exhibited and sponsored this fun & informative event.
Publisher’s Corner: October Could Be The Busiest Month

This is a busy time of year. October is the month of transition as every living thing on the planet prepares for winter. As the weather bounces from cool to warm and back to cool again, this fickle season has a special place in many hearts. As the milkweed seeds become airborne with their silken plumes, creatures scurried and hoard while the rest of us rake and weatherize. October could be called the “Event Month.” More goes on in October than any other three months combined. I would like to point out a few happenings with special interest to Healthy Planet readers. Being a big football fan, the St. Louis Rams “Green Game & Pre-game Green Expo” will take place October 30 when the Rams play (and defeat) the New Orleans Saints. You will see the Rams Green Team picking up recyclables in the stands during the game. UMSL’s “What is a City?” conference is Oct. 27-28, where they will explore the role of science in urban issues. The Saint Louis Art Museum is showing Monet’s Water Lilies beginning Oct. 2. One of my favorite artists. Thies Farms hosts its PUMPKINLAND during the whole month – what fun! Your Journey To Wellness Expo, a Mind/Body event can be enjoyed October 22 in St. Charles. The Harvest Moon Music Festival is October 22-23 in Vandalia, Illinois. Fall is a great time for a music festival. October 8 at the St. Louis Public Library, Baden Branch, is the 4th Annual Living Life Expo. Always a good idea to check out a health fair as the cold and flu season arrives! University of Missouri Extension is hosting “My Sustainable Sanctuary Series” on how to make your life and home more eco-friendly and safe. This will take place Oct. 20- Nov. 10 in Clayton. Missouri Votes Conservation Cocktail Party is Oct. 14. The Downtown Ball to benefit the National Blues Museum is also Oct. 14. On Oct. 22 join in the Walk For The Animals in Tower Grove Park. The Saint Louis Science Center’s SciFest is Oct. 18-23. And the SLiiM health Symposium is coming up Nov. 5.
